NBA Free Agency Begins Nov. 20th

According to a press release from the NBA and NBPA, free agency will begin on November 20th, which is very close to the NBA draft date of November 18th.

Many have reported this, but I first saw this from Harrison Faigen on Twitter. You can look at his tweet and the press release here.

The Big Picture

What does this mean for the Lakers? Well next week will be very intense. Not only will they be going through the draft and all that entails, but they’ll have to already have one eye on free agency looking at the possibilities and prepared to make moves and react to moves on the 20th.

With so many free agents and restricted free agents on the team the Lakers will have to make some tough decisions fast. Obviously bringing back Anthony Davis is a must, but what will they do with KCP? How about Kyle Kuzma, Rondo, and Dwight? This team might look drastically different by next weekend.

Back Before We Had A Chance To Miss It

Looks like the NBA off-season will be a mad dash to December. So far we have a draft on the 18th, free agency on the 20th, training camp on December 1st, and the start of the season on December 22nd. All of this happening so suddenly feels crazy even for 2020, but we’ll see how Rob Pelinka, the Lakers players, and the organization as a whole handles such a quick turnaround from NBA champs to the start of the season.
